Our off-road club recently embarked on our third annual adventure to the legendary Whipsaw Trail, located in the Thompson Okanagan region of British Columbia, with Princeton being the nearest town. The trail offers over 100 kilometers of various obstacles, ranging from easy to difficult. The beauty of Whipsaw is that none of the obstacles are mandatory, except for one particular challenge that even experienced drivers with well-equipped vehicles might struggle with, making it a real test for any off-roader.

Whipsaw is known for being one of the top 10 off-road trails in North America, and each year, our journey to this incredible location brings the group closer together. The trail is constantly evolving due to erosion, rain, snow, and the wear from other vehicles, making every visit a new experience. The terrain is unpredictable, and we always aim to complete it during mid-summer when the snow has mostly cleared from the mountains.

Despite the summer season, the nights on Whipsaw are always cold, with temperatures often dropping below 10°C. On our first year, we faced near-freezing conditions at night, with temperatures close to 0°C. These chilly evenings make the warmth of the campfire and camaraderie among friends even more special.

Our club has made it a tradition to return to Whipsaw each year. When we aren’t tackling the rugged terrain, we’re hanging out at camp, fishing, sharing stories, and laughing at the misadventures of those who couldn’t clear an obstacle. Conversations often shift to vehicle modifications, future upgrades, and plans for the next big trip. It's a trip that strengthens bonds and leaves everyone looking forward to the next year's adventure.
